Six Tornadoes Hit Area Monday

Louisville, KY – The National Weather Service has confirmed that six tornadoes struck central Kentucky on Monday with the most powerful in Hardin, Lincoln and Adair Counties.
They had F-2 twisters but no fatalities or serious injuries. One minor injury was reported in the Lincoln County community of McKinney. The injured person was treated at a local hospital and released.
Less powerful F-1 tornadoes occurred in Adair, Jefferson and Larue Counties. The Louisville twister was on the far west side near Campground Road.

WV Coal Mine Owned By KY Company

Louisville, KY – That West Virginia coal mine where 13 miners were trapped and 12 eventually died is owned by a Kentucky coal producer that has a dozen surface and deep mines in eastern Kentucky.
International Coal Group reported earnings of $8.65 million for the three months that ended September 30th and $28.6 million for the first nine months of 2005.
International Coal Group is moving to Charleston, WV and won't be a publicly owned Kentucky company for much longer.
