Louisville, KY – That West Virginia coal mine where 13 miners were trapped and 12 eventually died is owned by a Kentucky coal producer that has a dozen surface and deep mines in eastern Kentucky. International Coal Group reported earnings of $8.65 million for the three months that ended September 30th and $28.6 million for the first nine months of 2005. International Coal Group is moving to Charleston, WV and won't be a publicly owned Kentucky company for much longer.
Halfway, KY – Evacuees from the scene of a natural gas pipeline rupture in Allen County were allowed to return to their homes five hours after the 3:00 a.m. Thursday eruption. Nearly 300 people were evacuated around the scene in the Halfway community, six miles north of Scottsville. There were no injuries. Officials still don't know what caused the rupture but they're looking at a spot on the 30 inch line that ahd previously been welded
