Paducah, KY – Prosecutors have filed a motion, saying school shooter Michael Carneal doesn't have valid grounds to extend the deadline to ask for a new trial. McCracken County Commonwealth's Attorney Tim Kaltenbach says Carneal waited too long to argue that defense experts have changed their minds about his mental state.

Louisville, KY – The murder trial for a former Louisville police officer is now expected to start on September 20th. Mc Kenzie Mattingly appeared in Jefferson County Circuit Court this morning for a pretrial hearing. Mattingly is charged with murder in the January shooting death of 19 year old Michael Newby outside a Louisville liquor store.
Frankfort, KY – The Fletcher Administration says the state spent 1.9 million dollars last year, on nearly 53 hundred cell phones. Fletcher Chief of Staff Daniel Groves says that's one phone for about every seven state employees.
In a release issued by the Governor's office, officials said about 200 phones that were not being used have been located. The state was still paying for the unused cell phones, according to Fletcher spokesman Daniel Groves.
