Hopkinsville, KY – A Fort Campbell Soldier has died of injuries suffered in a Christian County motorcycle crash. Coroner Dorris Lamb says 23 year old William Richardson the second died Sunday afternoon at the scene of the wreck. Lamb says Richardson died the result of a head injury.
State Police say Richardson was northbound on Bradshaw Road and was traveling at a high rate of speed when he entered a curve and lost control of the motorcycle.
Louisville, KY – A 24 year old Marine from Kentucky who was killed by hostile fire in Iraq will be buried this weekend. Funeral services for Lance Corporal Deshon Otey of Radcliff are scheduled for eleven A-M, eastern time, Saturday.
The Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Elizabethtown. He is to be buried with full military honors in Calvary Cemetary in Louisville. The Rifleman was based at Camp Pendleton, California.
Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher today issued a plan to get state government through the next quarter. The plan would fund the government in the absence of an enacted budget. The plan calls for spending more than nine billion dollars through September 30th.
Bowling Green, KY – The trial for a man accused of raping and killing a Western Kentucky University student has been delayed until spring of 2005. Lucas Goodrum had been scheduled to face a jury starting July 30th. Special Judge Thomas Castlen of Daviess County has granted a prosecution request to delay the trial until March 8th.
Louisville, KY – The Better Business Bureau of Louisville, Southern Indiana, and Western Kentucky is urging consumers to beware of some new on-line scams. Group spokesperson Sara Rolfingsmeier says "phishing" is the term used to describe unscrupulous e-mail practices which are designed to trick consumers into revealing bank account numbers or credit card information.
