Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher has unveiled a first phase of a new plan to re-organize state government. The plan was compiled by a Blue Ribbon Commission on Governmental Organization and Efficiency, which had been charged with the responsibility of devising a new plan by Fletcher.
Versailles, KY – Democrat Ben Chandler has confirmed that he is a candidate for the Sixth District Congressional seat vacated by Governor Ernie Fletcher. Chandler lost to Fletcher in the November 4th gubernatorial election, but says his name recognition will never be higher than at the present time.

The first post-election reports filed by their campaigns to the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance show Democrat Ben Chandler spent less than 3.8 million dollars on his unsuccessful campaign.
Frankfort, KY – On his final day in office, Kentucky Governor Paul Patton has commuted the death sentence of convicted murderer Kevin Stanford. The U-S Supreme Court had used Stanford's case to uphold the death penalty for murderers as young as seventeen. However, Patton said he considered the death penalty to be an injustice for a criminal who was not yet an adult at the time of the crime.
