Frankfort,KY – A judge has sealed a witness list in the mail-fraud trial of Tina Conner. The former nursing home operator is also the former mistress of Kentucky Governor Paul Patton.
Conner was indicted in July on one count of mail fraud, alleging she falsified an application for a construction company she owned. Conner allegedly falsified the document to be certified by the state as a "disadvantaged" business.
Louisville, KY – District and business leaders in Louisville are unveiling a sweeping new literacy plan today. The plan is aimed at getting all of the district's 97 thousand public school students reading at their appropriate grade levels in just four years.
The plan is backed by sixteen million dollars in district and business commitments. District leaders say the goal can be reached, and they stress that the plan will have benefits which will extend beyond a child's ability to read.

The storm destroyed eighty residences and damaged sixty others. Thirty nine year old Eugenia McClease and her six year old son, Jeffrey, were killed when their house washed into a tributary of the Kentucky River.
Danville, KY – A Police report indicates that Former Kentucky House Speaker Joe Clarke took his own life. Clarke's body was found in his Danville residence, and a handgun was found near his body.
Boyle County Coroner James Ramey believes Clarke died at about 7 PM Sunday evening. Clarke was a Democrat who was elected Speaker after his predecessor, Don Blandford, was convicted in a bribery scandal. Joe Clarke was seventy years old.
Owensboro, KY – Officials with Toyotetsu Mid-America are planning to add more than one hundred new jobs by next spring. Company Spokesman Christopher Cooper says the additional positions will be needed when the company starts to manufacture parts for two more vehicles.
