Knoxville, TN – The three member board of the Tennessee Valley Authority has approved a rate hike of more than seven percent for residential and business customers. The board also lowered rates two percent for about 1500 manufacturers.
T-V-A says the money is needed to pay for pollution control equipment at its coal-fired power plants. A residential customer who uses one thousand kilowatt hours of power per month will seen an increase of less than four dollars.
Louisville, KY – Two missing children have been found unharmed, and their mother has surrendered to police. Authorities say the children had been taken from their Grandmother's house at knifepoint by their mother, after she lost custody of the youngsters. The children were found near a television station in Louisville.
Police say the woman's sister had been awarded temporary custody of the children, who are ages seven and six months.
