Gas Prices Set To Rise Again

Paducah, KY – A regional gasoline distributor in paducah says motorists should expect gas prices to jump above $3.00 a gallon by the weekend because of Gulf Coast refinery disruptions.
Phil Russo says the damage caused by Hurricane Rita puts more pressure on the market, but he adds that a rush to the pump isn't necessary. Russo predicts an average increase in price of ten cents a gallon per day.
He says the wholesale price of regular has risen to $2.90 a gallon. Russo's firm operates several BP stations in the Paducah area.

Unsafe Water In Louisville Fountains

Louisville, KY – Tests by the Louisville Metro Health Department show the fountains and pools at the city's Waterfront Park have unsafe levels of coliform bacteria from human waste.
Health officials say the levels found in some of the samples were 10 to 30 times as high as what would be allowed in swimming pools.
Officials say the problem is caused by the soiled diapers of infants along with homeless people bathing and defecating in the water. As a result of the discovery, the city will spend $22,000 to change the plumbing.
