The Department of Defense has announced four units--including two from Ft. Campbell, Ky--will deploy to Afghanistan this year. The scheduled rotation involves more than 11,000 soldiers from the four units that will start deploying between spring and winter.
A federal appeals court has reinstated a lawsuit brought by a Kentucky inmate over whether his outgoing legal mail must be left open for inspection by prison officials. The US 6th Circuit Court of Appeals Thursday concluded that 66-year-old Raymond Miller showed enough evidence that his legal mail had been reviewed by prison employees to raise a claim under the first amendment.
Record low water levels on the Tennessee River are creating big challengers for the operators of the Kentucky Hydro Plant at the Kentucky Dam. Plant Manager Bill Stallion told the Paducah Sun that maintaining levels on the river as well as Kentucky Lake is a balancing act of keeping the minimum levels necessary for the dam while making marinas, boaters, and fisherman happy.
