Kevin Willis

News Director

Kevin is the News Director at WKU Public Radio.  He has been with the station since 1999, and was previously the Assistant News Director, and also served as local host of Morning Edition.  He is a broadcast journalism graduate of WKU, and has won numerous awards for his reporting and feature production.  Kevin grew up in Radcliff, Kentucky and currently lives in Glasgow.

Half of Tennesseans Polled Want Entire Federal Health Care Law Thrown Out

A new poll of Tennesseans shows a majority of those surveyed want either all or part of the federal health care law found unconstitutional. But the same survey showed most people were happy with certain provisions of the law. The survey was conducted this month by Vanderbilt University, and polled 1,000 Tennessee residents.

Daviess County Leader Proposing Increase in Local Hotel Tax

Daviess County Judge-Executive Al Mattingly says a 1% tax increase on hotel rooms in the county is needed to support the new downtown convention center. Mattingly told Daviess County Fiscal Court members that unless the slight tax increase is enacted, city taxpayers would have to foot the cost of running the new convention center when it opens next year.

The Henderson Police Department tells WKU Public Radio they are preparing to release a statement regarding the murder investigation of Michelle Cotter, the Henderson County schools dance instructor shot to death early Tuesday morning.

Slain Guidance Counselor/Dance Coach Remembered as Role Model for Youth

A candlelight vigil was held Tuesday night at Henderson County High School in honor of Michelle Cotter. She was found shot in her Henderson home early Tuesday morning and later died at Methodist Hospital. Her husband, Steven Cotter, was found inside the home with a gun and was taken into custody.
