Kevin Willis

News Director

Kevin is the News Director at WKU Public Radio.  He has been with the station since 1999, and was previously the Assistant News Director, and also served as local host of Morning Edition.  He is a broadcast journalism graduate of WKU, and has won numerous awards for his reporting and feature production.  Kevin grew up in Radcliff, Kentucky and currently lives in Glasgow.

Owensboro Commissioners Expected to Pass Skateboard Ban at Tuesday Evening Meeting

The Owensboro City Commission is scheduled to vote on an ordinance that would ban the use of skateboards in the city’s downtown. The Messenger-Inquirer reports the commission is meeting tonight at 5pm at City Hall. The ordinance is expected to pass based on previous discussions by commissioners.

"Horses and Hope" Using Kentucky Derby Week to Encourage Breast Cancer Screenings

The owner and breeder of a top contender in this Friday's Kentucky Oaks horse race is using the event to draw attention to breast cancer screenings. Anita Cauley is a member of Kentucky First Lady Jane Beshear's Horses and Hope program, an effort that helps trackside workers obtain cancer screenings. One eye-catching way Cauley is raising awareness is by having the barn used by her filly "On Fire Baby" painted pink.

Michelle Clark-Heard Talks About Recruiting, Home Visits, and Great Women's Teams

There's no such thing as an "off-season" for a college basketball coach. Michelle Clark-Heard is someone who knows this well. Clark-Heard is the head coach of the WKU women's basketball team. Since she was hired in late March, the Louisville native has been evaluating her roster, hiring assistant coaches, scouting potential recruits, and attending tournaments with traveling all-star teams.

Former Kentucky ACLU Attorney Has Law License Taken Away

A prominent Kentucky attorney who won several major victories for ACLU is being permanently disbarred. David Friedman admitted violating several rules of professional conduct and agreed to the sanction, which was imposed by the Kentucky Supreme Court.

AP Sources: Gingrich to Suspend Campaign

The Associated Press is reporting Newt Gingrich will suspend his presidential bid Wednesday. Such a move by the former House Speaker would further clear the way for Mitt Romney to receive the Republican nomination for President.
