Kevin Willis

News Director

Kevin is the News Director at WKU Public Radio.  He has been with the station since 1999, and was previously the Assistant News Director, and also served as local host of Morning Edition.  He is a broadcast journalism graduate of WKU, and has won numerous awards for his reporting and feature production.  Kevin grew up in Radcliff, Kentucky and currently lives in Glasgow.

Ky House Education Chairman might consider vote on charter school bill

A vote on legislation that would allow charter schools may finally have it’s day in the Kentucky state House education committee.

House Education Chairman Carl Rollins says he’s considering allowing a charter school bill to receive a hearing and a vote in his committee this session. That’s been unheard of since Rollins assumed the chair of that committee.

Rollins makes no guarantee he’ll bring up a charter school bill, but says if there’s legislation out there he can deal with, a vote could happen.

Influential Kentucky Senate Republican to help Beshear with gambling bill

Ray Harper Introduced as Interim WKU Men's Basketball Coach

Bowling Green, Ky – WKU Athletics Director Ross Bjork Friday afternoon officially introduced Ray Harper as the Hilltopper's interim head coach. This comes after Ken McDonald was fired following a 5-11 start to the season. Bjork said a national search will get underway to identify the next full-time head coach. Bjork added Harper would be considered for the full-time job. Kevin Willis covered today's announcement and has this report.

WKU Basketball Coach Fired

WKU basketball coach Ken McDonald has been fired. A statement released by the school this morning says assistant coach Ray Harper has been named interim coach.  The Toppers are 5-11 so far this season, and lost at home Thursday night to Louisiana-Lafayette.
