Admitted Killer Wants To Change Plea

By AP

Columbia, KY – A 32 year old Lexington man who has admitted killing three members of an Adair County family wants to now withdraw his guilty plea.
William Meece said in a motion filed Tuesday that he pleaded guilty only because of ineffective representation by one of his court-appointed attorneys.
Circuit judge James Weddle is asked to set aside the plea and schedule a trial for Meece, who could get the death penalty if convicted.
Meg Appleton is to go on trial next Tuesday. She's charged with Meece in the plot to kill her stepfather, mother and brother.
