Akbar Arraignment Set for Tuesday at Fort Knox

By Dan Modlin

Fort Knox, KY – The American soldier accused of carrying out a
grenade attack against other Americans in Kuwait
last March will be arraigned tomorrow. Sergeant
Hasan Akbar is facing two counts of premeditated
murder and three counts of attempted murder in
the March 23rd attack at Camp Pennsylvania in
Kuwait.

Prosecutors say Akbar stole seven grenades from
a Humvee he was guarding before the attack.
The attack was directed against members of the
101st Airborne Division, which is based at
Fort Campbell.

Akbar has been held at a military prison at Fort Knox,
pending his arraignment. He is expected to face
court martial this summer at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
