Akbar Erupts In Court

By AP

Fort Bragg, NC – A soldier facing murder charges for a fatal grenade attack on two members of the Fort Campbell based 101st Airborne Division in Kuwait was subdued after he tried to overpower his military guards.
A pretrial hearing for Sgt. hasan Akbar was postponed following the incident Wednesday morning at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Military police quickly regained control of Akbar, but he and one of the MP's suffered injuries and received medical attention.
Akbar could receive the death penalty if convicted of two counts of premeditated murder and three counts of attempted premeditated murder.
The attack occurred at the start of the Iraq war in 2003.
