Alice Forgy Kerr Hoping for White House Help in Race

By AP/Dan Modlin

Frankfort, KY – Republican candidate Alice Forgy Kerr has received
a call from President Bush, congratulating her on
being chosen to run in the Sixth District Congressional
race. A White House spokesman says Bush also
told Kerr he looks forward to supporting her in the
special election to fill the Sixth District seat.

Democrat Ben Chandler was selected Monday night
as the candidate to represent Democrats in the
special election. Chandler has been serving as the
state's Attorney General and recently lost the gubernatorial
election to Ernie Fletcher, the previous occupant of the
Sixth District Congressional seat. Chandler says his
name recognition should be a plus in the election.
