Appeals Court to Take Up Denied Medal of Honor Case

A federal appeals court is taking up a case brought by the widow of a World War II veteran from southern Kentucky seeking to require the U.S. Army to review an application to award her husband the Medal of Honor.

Lyda P. Conner of Albany has waged a 17 year campaign to have the Army look again at the service record of the late Lt. Garlin Murl Conner. She wants the court to overturn a ruling that she waited too long to present new evidence to the Army Board for Correction of Military Records.

Garlin Conner was a member of the 3rd Infantry Division. He was wounded seven times and was awarded four Silver Stars.

The U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati has set arguments for December 5.
