Bar Association Will Consider Ethics of Internet Advertising

By AP

Louisville, KY – The Kentucky Bar Association is scheduled this month
to consider the ethics of lawyers using internet advertising
to attract business. The case arises from a dispute between
two Kentucky attorneys who specialize in ethics.

The issue centers on whether an attorney can use search-
engine advertising to land business from a person
searching for a competitor.

The dispute arose between Ben Cowgill of Lexington, and
his chief competitor for lawyers facing ethical troubles,
Louisville lawyer Peter Ostermiller.

The Bar Association's commission is scheduled to address
the general issue of search engine and web site advertising
at its meeting on July 21st.
