Bowling Green, KY – The TVA announced earlier this week it's raising it's rates by 7.5%. Wednesday Bowling Green Municipal Utilities announced it'll pass along that hike to its customers.
BGMU says the 7.5% rate hike, effective in October, should raise a typical bill about $4.80 a month.
BGMU last raised rates in 2003, again passing on a TVA rate hike. Before that it was in 1997.
The rate increase will also go toward covering BGMU's increased operational costs and the debt service on a %5 million bond issue for the construction of two new power plants in Bowling Green
