Bill Prevents Funeral Demonstrations

Frankfort, KY – A House committee has approved a bill to keep protestors away from funerals.
Under the bill, funeral protestors would have to maintain a 300 foor buffer during demonstrations in Kentucky.
Similar legislation cleared a Senate committee Thursday.
Lawmakers are targeting members of an extremist Kansas church that has protested various military funerals around the country.
Members of the Westboro Baptist Church are planning to protest in Frankfort and at a Fort Campbell memorial service next week.
Both the House and Senate have moved to expedite their versions of the bill.
More than a dozen states are considering legislation targeting funeral protests.
