Bowling Green Man Killed In Industrial Accident

By AP

Bowling Green, KY – A workman who was trying to repair equipment at the NASCO auto springs plant in Bowling Green was fatally injured Thursday when the equipment suddenly began operating.
Warren County deputy coroner Dwayne Lawrence says 40 year old Marvin Lee Smith was taken to Bowling Green's Medical Center at 1:00 am Central Time and died just over an hour later.
Lawrence says Smith was in a pit working on a piece of equipment called an "unreeler" when the equipment abruptly started and crushed him against a wall.
Lawrence says the electrical worker died as the result of massive trauma.
Plant manager Jeff Johnson said Occupational safety and Health Administration investigators came to the plant but no other information was available.
