Brian Roy to Appeal Firing by Fletcher Administration

By AP/Dan Modlin

Gilbertsville, KY – Former Democratic Congressional Candidate Brian Roy
has appealed the state's intent to fire him as Manager of
Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park. Roy's
attorney, Kerry Harvey, says his client has requested
a "pre-termination" hearing to reply to allegations made
by the Fletcher Administration.

Roy lost an election bid against Republican Ed Whitfield
in the 2000 First District Congressional race. The Fletcher
administration suspended Roy from his post at Kentucky
Dam Village in February, alleging misuse of state property
and state merit employees.

In a letter last week notifying Roy of his termination, Fletcher
administration officials also accused Roy of failing to
justify 114 rounds of free golf that were given away at the
state park last year.

The Fletcher administration has charged that more
than thirty thousand rounds of free golf were given away
at state parks across Kentucky last year.
