Budget Cut Will Lead to Reduced Hours at Social Security Offices

Bowling Green, KY – Social Security offices in Kentucky and across the country will be closing to the public earlier in the afternoon, but workers in those offices will still put in a full work day. That's the plan that will be used by the Social Security Administration to deal with a one billion dollar Congressional reduction in the amount of money the Obama Administration had requested for the next fiscal year. Social Security Regional Communications Director Patti Patterson says most of the services provided by the agency can be completed without an office visit, and she's encouraging clients to make use of on-line services when possible.
