Budget Negotiations Continue

By AP

Frankfort, KY – House and Senate leaders have conceded that while a budget agreement was reached last Friday, negotiations are not over. They agreed to resume discussions this week on final details of a long list of community development projects to be included in the budget.
But the leaders said Monday the final review should not delay the scheduled April 10th vote by the House and Senate on the $18 billion spending plan.
Senate president David Williams and House speaker Jody Richards say the final review amounts to double-checking what was done last week.
Richards says he expects the final agreement to contain few projects that hadn't been included in earlier versions of the budget bill.
Williams says the final budget likely will contain more projects than were in earlier versions of the budget, but no major surprises.
