Buyer Pays over $4 Million for Soda Fountain
An anonymous purchaser has paid $4.5 million for a unique soda fountain at an auction of Coca Cola Memorabilia in Elizabethtown. The News Enterprise and the Associated Press report that the buyer bid by phone Sunday for the item offered by the Schmidt Museum of Coca Cola Memorabilia.
The one-of-a-kind soda fountain has bars of alabaster and marble and includes leaded glass lamps that are used as soda dispensers. The soda fountain was exhibited in Chicago at the 1893 World's Fair. Before the auction took place, the fountain had been assessed at between $75,000 and $125,000.
