Campbellsville Earns Economic Development Award

Campbellsville, KY – The official economic development agency for Campbellsville
and Taylor County has earned national recognition from the
Economic Development Administration. "Team Taylor County"
has earned a 2004 Excellence Award for Economic Adjustment.

Team Taylor County Executive Director Kevin Sheilley says the
quality of the region's workforce has been a key to the area's
ability to recruit new businesses. Sheilley says
local leaders in a variety of organizations worked together to
help offset the job losses the community experienced a few
years ago. 37 hundred new jobs have been created in
Campbellsville and Taylor County since a major Fruit of the
Loom facility closed in the late 1990s.

The so-called "Campbellsville Comeback" was the subject of
a recent Congressional Round Table Discussion at
Campbellsville University.
