Louisville, KY – Churchill Downs, Incorporated had been expecting a profit drop for this summer due to the cost of trying to get slot machines for the company's race tracks. Now officials of the Downs say the company expects to lose $3.9 million for the summer quarter.
It will also reduce the value of Ellis Park in Henderson for the second time in two years. Ellis contributed to the unexpected loss.
Churchill Downs had previously said it expected a profit of about $5 million for the three months that ended September 30th.
