Volunteers from across the Commonwealth will gather in Greensburg Saturday to help with the annual "Clean the Green" project. They'll be picking up trash that has accumulated along a twenty mile stretch of the river.
Project Director Mike Hensley of the Nature Conservancy of Kentucky says the Green River is one of the most biologically diverse rivers in the world. He says keeping the river as clean as possible can help to maintain the wide variety of mussel and fish species that live in the waterway.
More information about how to register to volunteer for the project can be obtained by contacting the Nature Conservancy of Kentucky at (859) 259-9655.
