Concerns About VA Hospital Layout to be Heard in Jefferson County

A meeting is set for Wednesday night in Louisville to hear concerns or input about the design of the new Robley Rex Veterans Affairs Medical Center to be built starting in 2014.

The Courier-Journal says the public meeting is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. EDT at the Eifler Theatre in the Clifton Center. The new 110-bed hospital is to replace the VA's current 60-year-old medical center in Louisville and is to be finished in 2018.

The federal government recently paid $12.9 million for property at Brownsboro Road and Interstate 264 for the site for the hospital. Planned are clinics specializing in primary care, surgery and mental health, as well as programs for geriatric and extended care, home-based primary care and substance abuse residential rehabilitation treatment.
