By AP

Lexington, KY – The brother of Kentucky's newest U-S Congressman
is recovering from a gunshot wound. 37 year old
Matthew Chandler was shot in the abdomen Tuesday
as he sat in his car near a Lexington apartment complex.
Chandler is the younger brother of Congressman
Ben Chandler of Kentucky's Sixth District.

Chandler told police he was approached by a Hispanic
man with a gun. When Chandler tried to drive away, the
man shot him. Chandler managed to drive to a nearby
gasoline station, where bystanders called an ambulance.

Congressman Chandler has released a statement,
expressing shock over the incident. Ben Chandler
said, "We're just grateful and relieved that Matthew is
going to be alright."
