Congressmen Get New Assignments

By AP

Washington, D.C. – Kentucky Representative Ed Whitfield has been selected by Congressional leaders to serve as chairman of an oversight and investigations panel. He'll have jurisdiction ranging from international trade to clean water laws.
Meantime, Representative Ben Chandler has changed his committee assignments also. Chandler will serve on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. A major task of the panel will be to write a much delayed transportation spending blueprint for the next six years.
Whitfield was vice-chairman of the oversight panel during its investigation in 2002 of the collapse of Enron.
Chandler becomes the only Kentuckian on the Transportation Committee. he says he hopes to bring more federal aid to Kentucky highway and airport needs.
