Corbin Company Cutting About 250 Jobs

A company in southern Kentucky says it is cutting about 250 workers after a federal contract wasn't renewed. Computer Sciences Corporation said in a statement that all the jobs at its facility in Williamsburg would be impacted by the loss of the contract.

CSC's contract to process paperwork for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services ends on Oct. 31.

CSC spokeswoman Michelle Sicola Herd said employees will be assisted with transitioning to another position within the company or outside of it.

Williamsburg Mayor Roddy Harrison told The Times-Tribune that he has already begun the search for another company to replace the lost jobs.

He says the cuts "will hurt our community and the economy, but I'm not giving up either.
