Corvette Museum Celebrates 10th Birthday

By AP

Bowling Green, KY – The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green celebrated its tenth birth day this past Labor Day weekend and officials are looking forward with plans for an expansion that would double the museum's size.
The museum started fund raising this year for the $6 million project. Going into the weekend about $1.1 million had been raised.
The plans represent quite a turn-around. After opening to much fanfare, the museum ran into financial problems in its early years.
Museum executive director Wendell Strode says the museum now has 21,000 members, compared to just 5,000 when it first opened. He says the gift shop sales have doubled to about $4 million a year.
