Council for Better Education Sues General Assembly

By WKYU-FM

Frankfort, KY – A group of education advocates is suing the General Assembly for its lack of adequate funding to Kentucky public schools.
The Council for Better Education filed suit in Franklin Circuit Court. The C.B.E. claims in the suit that funding must be sufficient to provide an adquate education to each and every child in Kentucky.
State Senator Brett Guthrie, a member of the Senate Education Committee says that members of the C.B.E. have noted the
schools' accomplishments under KERA before his panel. He says that if the school superintendents report that they are all moving to proficiency under the KERA mandates, then the school systems are adequately funded.
The C.B.E. represents 164 school districts.
