Courtney Lee Could Be On the Move to NBA Title Contender

WKU

ESPN is reporting a former WKU basketball star could be on the move to the Boston Celtics. The network says free agent guard Courtney Lee is expected to sign with the Celtics soon, after averaging 11 points a game last season with the Houston Rockets.

The move would make Lee the second Celtic with Kentucky connections. Starting all-star point guard Rajon Rondo is a Louisville native who played his college ball at Kentucky.

Lee is a native of Indianapolis who finished his Hilltopper career tied for first in all-time points scored at WKU.

Lee played 30 minutes a game last season with the Rockets and made 26 starts,  shooting 40% from 3-point range.

He was drafted 22nd overall by the Orlando Magic in the 2008 NBA draft. After playing his rookie season in Orlando, Lee was traded to the New Jersey Nets.

Kevin is the News Director at WKU Public Radio. He has been with the station since 1999, and was previously the Assistant News Director, and also served as local host of Morning Edition.
