Defense Fund For Hiring Probe
Lexington, KY – A defense fund is being set up for current and former state officials entangled in a probe of hiring practices by Governor Fletcher's administration.
The Kentucky Republican aprty is doing its part to let supporters know about the special fund.
The state party sent an e-mail last week which said checks are being accepted by the special fund called "Kentuckians For Justice".
But the fund is not affiliated with the party, according to the e-mail sent by GOP communications director Jessica Ditto. Ditto wrote that the message was "a courtesy" to those who called the party's headquarters asking how they could help officials.
Even though the defense fund is soliciting donations, it must pass one final hurdle.
The executive branch ethics commission, which gave a cautious blessing to the fund in May, must review a donor questionnaire drafted by the group.
