Law enforcement officers across Kentucky have boosted patrols for the Labor Day weekend, with a special emphasis on getting impaired drivers off the road. Trooper Michael Webb of the Public Affairs Branch of the Kentucky State Police says the campaign involves a zero tolerance patrol.
During the Labor Day Holiday period in 2011, there were more than 1500 crashes, resulting in 13 fatalities in the Bluegrass State. The State Police say drivers impaired by alcohol or other substances are factors in numerous accidents each year. The "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign will run until 11:59pm, September 3rd.
