EKU Student Arrested After Note Prompts Dorm Evacuation
Authorities in Richmond have charged an Eastern Kentucky University student with terroristic threatening after a note was found on a dorm refrigerator. According to the Richmond Register, 18-year-old Jacob A. Walker was booked into the Madison County Detention Center Monday night.
EKU spokesman Marc Whitt said a small refrigerator was found wrapped in duct tape in a corridor of the Palmer House residence hall. A note found on the refrigerator caused officials to evacuate the dorm at about 4 p.m.
A Kentucky State police bomb squad brought in a bomb-sniffing dog to investigate and the refrigerator was found to contain only spoiled meat.
Walker is a first-semester freshman. The residence hall was reopened about two hours after the note was found.
