Fayette County Jail Has Worst Record

By AP

Lexington, KY – Officials say four inmates died in the Fayette County jail last year, the highest number of deaths there since 1997 and the most in kentuckty for the years.
Experts say the number of deaths points to deficient health screening procedures for inmates. They say it's especially true when screening is performed by corrections officers without medical training.
Fayette County jail officials say they're reviewing intake procedures after the four deaths. The review includes the health screening questions they ask of new inmates.
