Louisville, KY – Some Kentucky education officials say FBI requests for detailed information about foreign faculty and students can chill recruitment efforts.
Since October, the FBI has been visiting Kentucky campuses and requesting information about foreign faculty and students such as names, addresses, phone numbers and citizenship.
The request comes as the Immigration and Naturalization Services prepares to launch a national tracking system of foreign students. This is the second time the FBI has asked for such data since the terrorist attacks last year.
