Federal Judge Says Medicaid Services Should Be Restored

By AP

Lexington, KY – A Federal Judge says Medicaid services should be
reinstated to people whose nursing home or in-home
care was cut off in Kentucky. U-S District Judge Joseph Hood says
the people effected should be reinstated to Medicaid
within fifteen days.

The patients had been cut off from Medicaid support
under stricter eligibility rules that were implemented
in April of 2003. The stricter eligibility rules were
imposed by former Governor Patton to save money.
The Fletcher Administration had already taken steps
to help remedy the situation. A spokesman for the
Cabinet for Health and Family Services says the
agency is reviewing the order.
