Fletcher May Want New Jet For Kentucky

By AP

Frankfort, KY – Governor Fletcher got a free ride to President Bush's inaugural on a modern multi-million dollar jet. He may just ask Kentucky lawmakers to buy the plane when they reconvene next month.
Fletcher spokesman Doug Hogan says Fletcher was "test-flighting" a Cessna Encore for possible purchase by the state.
Hogan says he doesn't know who picked up the tab for the flight. He says no decision's been made on whether Fletcher's budget request to the general assembly on February 2nd will include money for a new state plane.
Last June, Fletcher inadvertantly set off a panic in the nation's capitol during former president Ronald Reagan's funeral.
An on-board equipment failure resulted in federal authorities scrambling fighter jets to chase Fletcher's plane and forced the evacuation of the Capitol while Reagan lay in state.
