Flu Season Nears

By AP

Frankfort, KY – Federal and state health officials want the people most at risk to get flu vaccine first as another flu season approaches.
The most at risk are identified as the elederly and chronically ill.
Officials say they want to avoid a shortage of influenze vaccine like last year. Flu shots were rationed last year amid nationwide fears of an initial shortage.
Kentucky public health officials said Wednesday the goal is to make flu shots available to everyone who wants them after October 24th. That will be after recommendations by the federal Centers For Disease Control and Prevention.
Because the cost of the vaccine has increased, the price of the shots will be higher in some areas, but Louisville officials say it will remain at $20 per shot.
