Former Gubernatorial Candidate Gatewood Galbreath Dead

By Dan Modlin

Bowling Green/Frankfort – Governor Steve Beshear says he was "shocked and saddened" to hear about the death of former political opponent Gatewood Galbraith. The Governor called the 64 year old Lexington attorney "a gutsy, articulate, and passionate advocate." Galbraith's running mate in last fall's election, Dea Riley, confirmed Galbraith's death. Gatewood Galbraith had advocated the legalization of hemp, and ran for Governor a total of five times. His most recent Independent run for Governor ended with a third-place finish.
