Former Hilltopper Officially Signs Deal with NFL Team
By Kevin Willis
Former WKU defensive back Derrius Brooks has signed a free-agent contract with the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals. Brooks wasn’t picked in last week’s NFL draft, but many players who aren’t drafted later sign free agent deals with teams of their choice.
Brooks, a native of Georgia, began his football career at WKU as a wide receiver, but later converted to the defensive back position, earning second-team all-Sun Belt honors in 2011.
WKU’s all-time leading rusher, Bobby Rainey, has also agreed to a free agent deal with the Baltimore Ravens, but the team hasn’t yet made an announcement regarding an official contract signing.
