Paducah, Ky – As a rookie FBI agent in the late 1950's in Salt Lake City, Albert Jones' boss was W. Mark Felt, who later became Watergate whistleblower Deep Throat.
Jones, the former mayor of Paducah, says that Felt was a strict, no-nonsense, by-the-book person.
Felt was the agent in charge of the Salt Lake City office for part of the time when Jones was a new agent in 1958 and 1959.
Felt eventually reached the number 2 position in the FBI behind legendary director J. Edgar Hoover.
Felt confirmed this week that he was Deep Throat, the secret government source in the Washington Post reporting that led to the resignation of President Nixon.
