Fort Campbell Soldier's Fate in Jury's Hands

The jury has gotten the case against a Fort Campbell soldier charged with killing his estranged wife and another woman in central Kentucky.

The soldier, Brent Burke, is in the midst of a court martial at the army post on charges of murder in the deaths of Tracy Burke and her former mother-in-law, Karen Comer, who were found fatally shot at Comer's Rineyville home in 2007.

The Army charged Burke in the shootings after civilian authorities in Hardin County dismissed charges against him due to four mistrials.

The Kentucky New Era reports that defense attorneys for Burke rested their case Monday after calling one witness - a state police detective who testified about inconsistencies in what two children saw the night of the slayings.
