Ft. Campbell Soldier Fires Shots At Troops

Fort Campbell, KY – Military police at Fort Campbell have arrested a soldier after he fired five shots into a group of fellow soldiers who were doing physical training.
The shooting happened around 7:00 am Central time Thursday near the 1st and 2nd Brigade headquarters.
Fort Campbell spokeswoman Cathy Gramling says the soldier was arrested a short time later.
Gramling says when MP's captured the man he had a handgun that wasn't Army issue.
No one was hurt in the shooting and the soldier's name hasn't been released. No charges have been immediately filed.
Gramling says it wasn't immediately known if the soldier belonged to the unit he fired on.
Meanwhile, another Special Forces soldier from Fort Campbell has died in Iraq.
SSGT Matthew Kimmell was killed when an improvised explosive device went off Wednesday near his military vehicle in a city north of Baghdad.
The 30 year old Kimmell was from the southwestern Indiana farming community of Paxton. He was assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group. His father says Kimmell was a career soldier and had served in Iraq since June.
Another Special Forces soldier from Fort Campbell was killed in Iraq on Sunday. The military says 29 year old SSGT Gary Harper, Jr. of Virden, IL was killed when insurgents ambushed his unit during a reconnaissance mission near Baghdad
