Full Kentucky Derby Field Set for Saturday's Run For the Roses

The post positions and early odds are set for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby.  The morning line favorite is Bodemeister, at 4 to 1, trained by three-time Derby winner Bob Baffert. Bodemeister will run from post position six.

The second favorite is Union Rags, at 9 to 2, followed by Gemologist, at 6-4.  They’ll break from post positions 4 and 15, respectively.

Four-time Derby-winning trainer D. Wayne Lukas is back this year with Optimizer, who will run from post position number two, just off the rail.

Lukas said before the draw that Optimizer is comfortable on the Churchill Downs dirt.

"He likes the track.  He’s been here, he was here all last spring.   That is not an issue I don’t think, assuming we get the track we’ve been training on," said Lukas.

A full field of 20 will run in Saturday’s 138th Kentucky Derby.   Post time is about 5:24pm central time.
