Frankfort, KY – The Executive Director of Kentucky's Affordable, Pre-Paid
Tuition Program says the program should have sufficient
funds to operate until at least 2026. In testimony before the
Interim Joint Subcommittee on Postsecondary Education,
Jo Carole Ellis said a recent actuarial analysis indicates
the fund should see a surplus for the next 23 years.
Ellis testifed that a major reason for the relative strength
of Kentucky's program was the General Assembly's
decision to create a reserve fund for the effort. She also
testified that larger than normal tuition hikes at the
state's universities have contributed to the projected
shortfall.
