Frankfort, KY – Election officials are reviewing petitions submitted by Lexington Attorney Gatewood Galbraith. He filed the paperwork to run as an Independent against Republican nominee David Williams and incumbent Democrat Steve Beshear. Galbraith has told reporters that he plans to pull votes from both parties, and he has been trying to gain support from some Tea Party backers who were unhappy that Phil Moffett lost the GOP Primary earlier this year. Galbraith says he started the petition process in December. An independent candidate in the Commonwealth needs to collect at least five thousand signatures to get on the ballot.
